Shreveport Police will patrol weekend parade

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will not be providing security for the Krewe of Centaur Mardis Gras parade in Shreveport this weekend.
The Shreveport Police Department says they are fully staffed and will have uniform officers along the parade route. SPD wants to remind parade goers that in addition to no guns and knives allowed along the parade route that no pets are allowed unless it is a service animal. Alcohol will not be allowed inside the family area.
SPD has noted a decrease in Mardis Gras parade arrest numbers. Last year there were fewer than 20 arrests associated with the parades.
