The ArkLaTex's blood supply continues to be at critically low levels, so blood banks are doing what they can to get people to donate.
Every month, LifeShare in Texarkana, needs to provide more than 1,100 units of blood to those who need it.
However because of the holidays, flu outbreak, and bad weather, the numbers have dropped.
Bennie Murray, started donating blood 39 years ago after his son was born with a rare blood disease.
He says it's a small thing that helps in a big way.
"It's just something you can do to help your fellow man. If we as individuals don't do it, then we're harming somebody's else's life."
If you want to help, a blood drive is scheduled for this Thursday at Texarkana College from 10am to 3pm.
Anyone who is 16 years old and up can go to the Truman Arnold Center on the school's campus.
