Construction underway for charter school

Parents now
have another option for schooling their children and it's free. Construction
is underway for the Magnolia School of Excellence, which will open in the fall.
It's located off of Clyde Fant Parkway near Stoner Avenue. It's the first new school in Caddo Parish in 25 years. Hiring will begin within the next few months.
Open enrollment for students runs until March 15th. The maximum enrollment for the 2013/2014 school year is 638 students. If there are more applicants than spots available a lottery system will be used to select students.

The school
will initially open as a kindergarten through 6th grade campus. The 7th grade will be added in
2014 and the 8th grade in 2015.
An informational
session will be held on February 5th at Riverview Hall at 6pm.
