BBB sends out warning about Fed Ex online scam

Updated: January 29, 2013

If you get an email from Fed Ex you should delete it immediately.

The Better Business Bureau say there is a fraudulent Fed Ex email circulating on the internet.

The BBB recently received a report from a consumer about the email that contained an order number, date and time an order was placed.

The email message reads: "your parcel has arrived at the post office on January 21.  Our courier was unable to deliver the parcel to you.  To receive your parcel, please go to the nearest office and show this receipt."

There is a button below this message to press to get and print receipt.

Representatives with the BBB are asking you not to press these buttons and to delete the email.  They say pressing the buttons may create viruses and malware.

Fed Ex company officials say that they have also received numerous calls and inquiries about this same type of message and it is a scam.  Fed Ex confirmed that they do not send any type of notifications by email.
