Barksdale cuts will leave hundreds looking for a new job

By: Nikki Henderson
Updated: January 28, 2013

The future of Barksdale's 917th reserve wing doesn't look promising.

In this developing story, NBC 6 has confirmed A-10 aircraft and the airmen who operate them will be leaving our area toward the end of the year.

Officials with the 917th reserve wing tell us around 500 jobs will be impacted by national defense cuts.  These are cuts we told you about last March, and at that time the measure was pending approval of congress.

This news comes one month before the 917th's 50th anniversary.

We'll bring you more information regarding local impact as it becomes available.
