The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office has an extra tool to keep residents safe.

Monday Chesapeake Energy donated a 2011 Chevy Silverado, formerly of the company's security fleet, to the department.

During a special reception in Mansfield, Chesapeake presented the keys to the vehicle that will be used during everyday activities in the department's seven divisions of operation.

Paul Pratt, Chesapeake's Director of Corporate Development said, "The additional capacity this vehicle provides to the Sheriff's office will improve the security of the parish and give peace of mind to its citizens."

DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle said, "The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office is very thankful for the donation of this vehicle and proud to have a community partner in Chesapeake."
