Shreveport Police said the accident happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 6900 block of Buncombe Road.
After the collision, police said the semi swerved off the road and hit a utility pole and a tree, before it came to rest.
A 32-year old female and a one-month old baby were in the Corolla. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Bystanders said the truck driver was trapped inside the truck.
"They had to cut him out," said Trey Wischau. "They had to get the door cut open. They got him out. But he was pinned from the knees down. He was awake talking to me."
The truck driver was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said the truck was carrying salt water.
People living in the neighborhood said the accident sounded like an explosion.
"I just heard a big bang in my kitchen. It was pretty scary. I almost started crying thinking this is the worst one we had out here," said Debbie Keckler. Keckler, whose home sits directly in front of where the accident took place, said several accidents have happened in that spot because there is a sharp curve in the road there.
