This Friday was supposed to be the last day anyone could apply for the position of Chief of Police in Shreveport but Mayor Cedric Glover requested the deadline be extended so the position could be advertised nationwide. During the meeting it was discovered by the Civil Service Board that the position has not been posted in the citys local journal, something that must happen before the search goes any further. Chairman of the Civil Service Board, Tom Dark, said,"There is a state law that requires advertising for 30 days and we werent going to meet the Feb. 16 deadline. We dont do this very often and it appears someone miscommunicated between two people, each thought the other one was doing it." The first ad will be published in the Shreveport Times on Friday and the new deadline to apply is set for March 16th.
