LSU Earns First SEC Win, 58-54, Over Aggies

BATON ROUGE (Courtesy LSU)-- LSU overcame an early 15-point deficit to win its first Southeastern Conference game under first-year head coach Johnny Jones, 58-54, on Wednesday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU (10-6, 1-4 SEC) took a four-point lead with consecutive layups by Charles Carmouche in the final two minutes then used a dunk by Johnny O'Bryant and a pair of free throws by Anthony Hickey to earn the victory.

Texas A&M fell to 12-6 overall and 2-3 in SEC play.

Shavon Coleman led the Tigers with 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while O'Bryant had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Hickey added 10 points and eight steals.

LSU used its defense to spark its offense, as the Tigers had 19 steals and forced 24 turnovers to overcome 38 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from the free throw line.
