The competition heats up for week two.
The race to the winner's circle begins with a journey toward heart health as we focus on cardiovascular exercise.
"It can help balance out cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose levels in the body and help you feel better, sleep better," said Janine Bratton, trainer at Christus Louisiana Athletic Club.
Janine offers these tips:
- Begin with 20 to 30 minutes of cardio at least three times a week, working up to 3 hours each week.
- Always start out with 5 minutes of a low-impact warm-up.
- Then increase your intensity for the duration of the workout, making sure you exercise at a level where you can still breathe comfortably.
"If you have to write it down, it kind of looks bad on paper. So you may be a little more conscious of what you're putting in your mouth," said Janine.
