Hospitals are federally required to report the flu immunization status of all health care workers

The Centers for  Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Joint Commission Standard IC.02.04.01 and the National Quality Forum (NQF), require that hospitals report the number of healthcare providers who receive, who cannot receive and who decline the vaccination.

LSU Health Sciences Center and CHRISTUS Health offer flu shots free to doctors, personnel and volunteers. If workers don't get the shot, they must wear surgical masks when caring for patients.

Both facilities offer free flu immunization to all physicians, health care workers and volunteers, and receive a stamp on their badges when they receive their shot.
