EOD technicians on Barksdale AFB know their job is dangerous, but they do it because it saves lives. Airmen in this field are trained to handle explosives, like IEDs, which are the biggest threat to troops in Afghanistan right now. These explosives can be hidden anywhere and remote detonated. Airmen working in teams of three disable these explosives using robots and bomb suits if necessary. Its deadly work. Last year SrA Bryan Bell and his team were killed by an IED. Still, EOD technicians believe its vital to the mission and say they'll continue going into the danger zone if it means keeping other troops alive.
