LifeShare Blood Center needs you to donate blood.

A recent decrease in donors has caused the blood supply in our area to reach a critically low level.

All blood types are needed but especially Blood type O and type B negative.

The Shreveport area needs 500 donations between today and tomorrow to stabilize the blood supply.

Tina Hooper, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers said, "Since the beginning of the year, the supply has taken a sharp drop. We are seeing the weather and early flu season impact some blood drives.  Because of this, we need additional donors to come in right away."

LifeShare has extended its hours to accommodate donor's schedules:

  • 8910 Linwood Ave., - Thurs. Jan. 10, 11a.m. - 7p.m.; Fri. Jan. 11, 8a.m. - 7p.m.; Sat. Jan. 12, 8a.m. - 3p.m.
  • 1523 Doctors Dr., Bossier City - Thurs. Jan. 10, 11a.m. - 7p.m.; Fri. Jan. 11, 8a.m. - 4p.m.

A blood drive is also being held between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. today at Willis-Knighton Portico on 2510 West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
