Local organization holds parade in honor of MLK

The Martin Luther King, Jr. parade will roll out this weekend in North Shreveport.

Saturday the MLK Community Development Corporation will hold a parade to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Chief Judge Carl E. Stewart of the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will serve as Grand Marshall.

Area drill teams and bands are also expected to participate in the event.

The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 on Russell Road.  The parade will proceed down MLK Dr. and end at the Southern University parking lot.
