Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and a group of local ministers will celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a special ceremony.

Glover and the Baptist Ministers Fellowship Conference of Shreveport will hold a citywide service Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church on 1500 Pierre Avenue.

Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr., Senior Pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker.

The ceremony also will include special recognitions of the 2013 ``Spirit of Dr. King Award'' recipients by Mayor Glover and the City of Shreveport.  This year's honorees will be recognized for their respective commitments to Civil Rights, education, community, youth and jurisprudence.

The event is free and open to the public.
