On Jan 4, police arrested Marcus Slade for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and assault on a peace officer.
Witnesses said Slade was running up and down Scoggins Street, naked, and yelling obscenities.
Officers used a taser gun on Slade, and took him to the local Harrison County Sheriff's Jail, where he then became unresponsive.
Family members said they are shocked by what has happened.
"They didn't have to taser him that many times and you don't taser a naked person anyway, if he don't have on clothes," said Quaylon Dixson, Slade's nephew.
"He was treated wrong and I'm not satisfied with it," said Cerra Slade, Marcus Slade's father.
The Texas Rangers are interviewing jail personnel and waiting for autopsy results.
