breaking news
The roads are re-opened, and the crowds have returned home, but if you were out in Shreveport on Saturday afternoon, it was a whole different story. Thousands flocked to the Krewe of Centaur parade route. It started at Clyde Fant Parkway, snaking onto East Kings Highway and ending on Preston Street. So far, police have not reported any major accidents or incidents. 300 police officers on horseback, in cruiser or on foot were assigned to various posts like crowd control and traffic direction. The next Mardi Gras event for Shreveport is Sunday, February 11th. The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux will host a festival and parade at Riverview Park starting at 1:30 p.m. Then, on February 17, the Krewe of Gemini Parade will roll at 4:30 p.m. starting on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway near Lake Street. That same day, in Natchitoches, the Krewe of Dionysos will throw their parade. It starts at 5:30 p.m. on South Drive. The Krewe of Highland parade is scheduled for February 18. It will go through the Highland neighborhood. And, at 6:30 on February 20th, the Krewe of Aesclepius will host their parade at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City.
