Not everyone is cooking up a fabulous meal on New Year's. Several are letting local restaurants treat them instead.

Strawn's Eat Shop on Kings Highway opened up at 6 a.m. New Years Day. It had a full house at noon. Lots of people were eating cabbage and black-eyed peas, hoping good luck would come their way.

The southern diner is open every New Year's Day. This year, its manager said they are seeing less customers.

Strawn's will be open until 8 p.m. New Year's Day.
