Families got a jump start on celebrating the New Year at Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center. They rang in the new year at noon.
Workers dropped the ball and thousands of balloons during the 4th annual New Year's at Noon Celebration.
After popping the balloons, the kids headed over to the Planetarium for the first ever dance party.
Experts also shared the science behind fireworks. Many of the younger children enjoyed making the Den Den Daiko- a Japanese pellet drum.
"This is a great way the family can come toegether, do traditional things like have sound, make party hats, do a balloon drop do all those fun things as a family," said Lou Papai, the Director of Education for Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center.
Papai said they are thrilled with the turnout. More than 400 people showed up for the festivities.
