There are some new laws taking effect January first in Louisiana that could impact local voters.
Senate bill 107, Act 533 changes the way political parties are identified on Voter I.D. cards. If you're a member of a recognized party, it will have an abbreviation of that party, and members of non-recognized parties will say "other". Finally, if a voter does not have a political affiliation, the card will say "no party."
House Bill 209, Act 577 will change the time polling locations and the main voters' registrar's office opens on election days. Until now, both opened up at 6 A.M., but now, they'll open an hour later, at 7 A.M.
