Paulla Jackson, the Front Desk Agent for the Holiday Inn and Suites in New Boston, TX says about 30 local families have come in looking for a place to stay.
"It was getting really bad, so people were starting to come in off the street from their homes, they had lost electricity too," Jackson said.
It was the wet and heavy snow that was the cause for all the outages, and SWEPCO officials say they're doing what they can to fix the problem.
"Now that the storms have gone through, we've seen what the heavy wet snow did overnight," PIO Scott McCloud says. "Most of these resources are heading to the I-30 corridor."
32 line crews and 14 tree crews were sent over to northeast Texas to help bring the power back, and SWEPCO says you can help by leaving your porch light on.
"It's another way that helps us so we can see if a home has power or not."
But no matter the problem, Jackson says it's all about having fun.
"Our employees know how to deal with the power outages, so we pretty much had a good time without it. Some of our guests got out the dominoes and the playing cards, and occupied their time until the power came back on."
