Millions of Americans are traveling for the holidays.
Here in Shreveport/Bossier area, the Greyhound and Shreveport Regional Airport are seeing an increase in travelers.
"We've been extremely busy, booked, having to at least two three doubles going out every day about every two hours," said Stephanie Young of Greyhound Lines.
Young said Greyhound has doubled its fleet out of Shreveport, to 24 buses leaving everyday during the holidays. They have a first come, first serve policy so even if you have ticket, you won't be able to get a seat if the incoming bus is full.
According to officials at United Airlines, the Shreveport Regional Airport is usually busiest during the Thanksgiving holiday. But this year, they say they are seeing more travelers for Christmas. They attribute this to lower gas prices nationwide, leading to cheaper flights.
Flyers arriving on Allegiant Air from Orlando said they experienced minimal delays. They have a few words of advice.
"Get to the airport on time," said Kit Tolliver, of Jacksonville, Fl.
"Book early, get cheaper rates," said Julie Edwards, of Bossier City. She paid $72 roundtrip back in June for her ticket to Orlando. She said the price eventually jumped up to $400.
