School resource officers are becoming a valuable tool inside local schools. The Bossier Parish School System has a total of 13 SROs. They can be found in all of the district's middle and high school campuses. They're also at both alternative schools.
The key to the officer's success is
building relationships with students. That's how they've been able to prevent
several violent situations from ever happening.
Lieutenant Bill Davis says SROs were there when a student brought a gun to
Charlotte Mitchell Educational Center. A deputy was a key component at Parkway
High when a student was arrested for making violent threats.
