The Salvation Army has started distributing donated Christmas to parents in need. More than 6,000 children from low income families will receive gifts this year.
Director of Development K.C. Kilpatrick Stone said they were able to fulfill 3,000 children's wish lists with Angel Tree donations.
The Marine Corp's Toys for Tots Program fulfilled the rest of the requests. The community donated more than 16,000 toys to its program and more than $11,000 in donations.
The Toys for Tots emergency distribution will be held Thursday, Dec. 20 at 8 a.m. at the Salvation Army's Toy Shop on Jewella Avenue.
