MSNBC is reporting 27 people are dead after a man goes on a shooting rampage  at an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut.

Friday morning Ryan Lanza, 24, allegedly opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School killing 20 children and seven adults.

Lanza of Hoboken, New Jersey was later found dead at the school.

Lanza's mother who was a kindergarten teacher at the school is among those who were killed and many of the victims were believed to have been in her classroom.

Another relative of Lanza's also was found dead inside a home in Newtown.

Authorities are questioning Lanza's younger brother to see if he knew anything about the mass killing.
