Shreveport doctors make Christmas wishes come true for local children

More than 50 children from Shreveport-Bossier's poorest neighborhoods will get a chance to go on a holiday shopping spree.
Saturday participants in the Volunteers of America LightHouse after-school program will be strolling down the aisles of Target looking for Christmas gifts.
Each child will be given $300 for the "Shop with a Doc" extravaganza. The children will use the money to buy toys, clothing, school supplies and gifts for family members.
Doctors from Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana, Spine Institute of Louisiana and Pain Care Consultants will serve as personal shoppers for the children.
Eileen Czerwinski, director of Children and Families for Volunteers of America. said "We are so grateful to Specialists for this opportunity,". "Without this help, our families would barely cover their children's needs much less the things they want."
The shopping spree will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Target on 7110 Youree Drive.
The LightHouse after-school program serves children from low income families across Shreveport-Bossier. It provides academics, character building, community services and enrichment activities.
