Red Cross Anticipating Busy Hurricane Season

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Another hurricane season is upon us and that means there could be more evacuations to our area. Red Cross officials say they are preparing for a busy season. They expect to be deployed at least 7 times for shelter operations. People who will be evacuated by bus from South Louisiana will leave 50-hours before a storm is expected to hit. Michelle Davison with the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the Red Cross says emergency officials are pulling the trigger this year. "They are going to evacuate earlier for things like tropical storms and level one and two hurricanes." Davison says the Red Cross is in desperate need of volunteers to help with the increased load of shelter operations
