An elementary school in Bossier
City is just one of three schools in the state to receive a special grant. It's
from a program called The Leader in Me.
Bellaire Elementary
received the grant this year.
The nationwide program
focuses on transforming a school by teaching children the "Seven Habits of
Highly Effective People."
Teachers actually receive
special training to teach those habits to students.
There are reminders of the
program posted in the hallway, and the principle says it teaches her students
valuable lessons.
"Through these seven habits we believe
that if children are taught these values that they will grow up to be
productive citizens," says Vicky Birtcher, Principle of Bellaire
Elementary.
The
learn things like understanding others, working together and sharpening their
talents.
