A volunteer treasurer has been arrested for stealing over $100,000 from Broadmoor Christian Church.
Evelyn Brown, 63, was taken into custody Tuesday by Caddo Parish authorities.
Investigators determined that Brown fraudulently gained access to church bank accounts and transferred approximately $104,613 into an unused church operating account. She then forged the signature of the authorized signer on the operating account in order to write checks to herself.
Brown had been a volunteer treasurer at the church for the past eleven months. The church contacted the sheriff's office after they noticed discrepancies in their accounts.
Brown has been charged with felony theft and illegal transmission of monetary funds.
