Texarkana police bring gang violence to screeching halt

By: Nikki Henderson
Updated: November 27, 2012

Authorities have arrested 6 adults and 7 juveniles in connection with the recent rash of violent crimes plaguing the Texarkana community.

The suspects face several charges including terroristic acts and first degree battery.

The task force was reinstituted earlier this year after police saw a spike in criminal activity that was tied to local gangs.

The special unit has identified over 70 members of criminal street gangs in the Texarkana area.

Police say additional arrests are expected in the future.
