The Shreveport Fire Chief is coming out publicly asking voters to renew the public safety sales tax.
Chief Craig Mulford tells NBC 6 that fire and EMS services depend on the $5,000,000 they receive annually from the quarter cent tax.
He hopes Shreveport residents understand that personnel will be cut if the tax is not renewed for another five years -- emphasizing that it's a renewal, not a new tax.
The item has to receive more than 50% of voters support to pass.
