West Monroe authorities have released the names of people involved in a fatal accident on I-20 near the Downing Pines Road Overpass.
The accident
happened around 8:30 p.m. Nov. 24.
24-year-old Sarah Attaway, of Shreveport, was driving eastbound when
authorities say her SUV went through the median, crossed into the westbound
lane, and hit another car head-on. Four men were in that car. One of them,
63-year-old Ray Ashbury of Austin, TX, died at the scene, along with Sarah
Attaway. Her body has been sent to Little Rock, Arkansas for an autopsy.
All three remaining occupants in the car were transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Anthony Senecal and Mark Ashby were later transported by helicopter to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Hospital officials tells us Anthony Senecal is in fair condition and Mark Ashby is in serious condition.
Sarah Attaway was a 2006 graduate of Evangel Christian Academy. She was an avid softball player and her former assistant coach, Sherilyn Mueller has fond memories of her glory days.
"She had this incredible smile and she was happy all the time when she was playing softball,"said Sherilyn Mueller. "She had this amazing heart to play softball. She would go all out in every practice and every game. She never held back."
Attaway finished high school with All-City, All-District, and All-State honors.
Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Here's a link to her obituary.
