Shreveport Police are investigating a morning robbery in the South Highlands area. Shortly after 10:30 a.m. this morning, authorities responded to a home in the 4500 block of Line Avenue after receiving a call of an alleged home invasion.
Upon the arrival of officers, contact was made with an elderly male who was the apparent home owner. The man was identified as 72-year-old Winburn Cerlin.
Cerlin was suffering from obvious trauma to the head after an alleged attack that appeared to have occurred inside his home. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as potentially non-life threatening.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department's Robbery Unit along with Crime Scene Investigators responded to the home and launched their investigations.
Authorities spoke to an adult female who advised that she had come to the residence to check on Cerlin, when she observed at least two males fleeing on foot from the area around Cerlin's home.
At current, the role of the men has not been established, as the investigation is in early stages. Authorities are working at this hour to identify and apprehend those responsible for this crime.
