Bossier Parish tax notices mailed today

Updated: November 14, 2012

Bossier Parish tax notices are being mailed out today, and homeowners have three different ways they can pay at four different locations.

If you are mailing your payment, send it to the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, Property Tax Department, P.O. Box 850, Benton, LA 71006.

Walk-ins from Bossier City or Haughton are encouraged to go to the Bossier Sheriff's Substation in Bossier City at 2510 Viking Drive.  In Benton, you can go to the tax office on the first floor of the Bossier Parish Courthouse at 204 Burt Boulevard, and walk-ins from Benton and Plain Dealing can also go to the Bossier Sheriff's Substation in Benton at 7076 LA Highway 3. Residents who live in the southern part of the parish can visit the South Bossier Substation on Arthur Ray Teague Parkway at the foot of the Shreveport-Barksdale Boulevard bridge.  All locations will be open 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays.

As a walk-in, you can pay with MasterCard, Visa, check or cash. All credit card transactions will incur a 5% service charge.

To pay online, visit www.bossiersheriff.com and click on the "Pay Property Taxes" tab at the top right of your screen. From there, you can search to find your property by entering your assessment number, name, address or P.O. Box number. You will then be prompted to select how you would like to pay. You may select electronic check or credit card. The electronic check option will ask you for your banking information such as the routing number and account number.

The deadline to pay property taxes is December 31, and 1% interest will be applied each month the payment is late starting January 1, 2013.

Each of the Substations will also have barrels where residents can drop off canned goods or non-perishable items in support of Operation Blessing in order to help the elderly and needy families this Christmas.

If you have questions, call the Bossier Parish Courthouse at 965-3400, the Viking Drive Substation at 965-3500, the Benton Substation at 965-3065 or the South Bossier Substation at 549-3317.
