Freak accident with deer claims two fatalities; injures two children

A freak accident in Howard County, Ark. today took the lives of two people and injured two passengers.  

Glen Johnson, 59, and his wife Margaret Johnson, 61, of Nashville, Ark., died of injuries related to a deer on the on Highway 27 in Howard County. Passengers, Dadrick Franklin,10, and LaDarrius Franklin, 8, were transported to Children's Hospital in Little Rock.


The Johnsons were driving south on Highway 27 when a north-bound pickup truck collided with a deer in the road.  When the truck hit the deer, it went airborne and crashed into the Johnsons' windshield, causing it to shatter.


At that point, Johnson lost control of his vehicle and it careened into a building.


The Johnsons were pronounced dead at the scene by Howard County Coroner, John Gray. Their grandchildren, ages 8 and 10 were transported to Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
