A local school marked as academically unacceptable is undergoing major changes.  Fair Park High School has a new principal and his goal is to eliminate the "stigma" surrounding the school.

James Outley is the new principal at Fair Park.  A role he's only held for a week and a half.  His track record is what got him the job.  Outley put together a successful expulsion program at Hamilton Terrace.

For eight years he was assistant principal at Green Oaks High School and was in charge of discipline.  His successes at those schools will serve as a model at Fair Park.

Outley believes his military background will also keep students in line.  He wants to change how teachers teach along with holding both teachers and students accountable.  The principal invited NBC 6 to come back to the school at the end of the school year in May.  He promises us we will be able to see first hand major changes on campus.

The principal's goals for next school year include implementing more technology into classrooms and adding distance learning classes.  He believes that's the only way to prepare students for a career and a higher education.  He also has high expectations---he's anticipating double digit gains with test scores.
