Northwood High School is our NBC 6 Spirit Stick winner this week! The school hosted our morning show crew today for a live presentation in their gym.
Northwood has a lot to cheer about.
"It's a first for all of us," said Jordan Dearmond, junior classman.
The north Caddo Parish high school is headed to the play-offs. It's something the Falcons haven't been able to do since the mid-nineties. Their excitement made them an easy choice for this week's winner of the NBC 6 Spirit Stick.
Dearmond is involved in pretty much everything.
"I'm in the student council, I'm in the Key Club, a big part of the Nest, I play tennis, baseball.... I don't want to look back at my high school career and think I wasn't involved enough," said Dearmond.
Being a part of the school is also a priority for senior Kaytlin Woolen.
"Being involved makes your high school experience what it is if you're going around just being a "hall walker" as we would call them you'd look back and say what did I do in high school?" said Woolen.
Northwood student's support fellow students any way they can.
"We go out there and all of our spirit groups march out on the field and actually ready to meet football team as they come out," said Woolen.
It's definitely making a difference on the football field.
"I ask the players on the team after the game, 'Did y'all hear us?' They're like, 'Man, we can hear you louder and louder every game'," said Dearmond.
