After more than two weeks of stops and starts, legal maneuvering and trips to Louisiana's Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the capital murder trial of Christopher Cope will kick off at 1 p.m. Thursday in Caddo Parish District Court.

Cope, who turned 26 just two days before his Oct. 8 trial began, is accused of killing  SPD Sgt. Tim Prunty outside a convenience store in south Shreveport, two years ago today on Oct. 24, 2012.

The final jury selections were completed at 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 24) at 5:30 p.m. Opening statements are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in Judge Mike Pitman's court.
