(Shreveport, LA) A Woodlawn High School football player is behind bars tonight, after being taken into custody at school this morning.
Richard A. Bell, 18, a standout in the Knights two 1-4A district wins against Northwood and Minden, is the suspect in a drive-by shooting incident early Sunday morning.
Shreveport police responded to a call at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 14) relative to a shots fired from a moving vehicle.
SPD Cpl. Marcus Hines said the alleged victim had just dropped off a friend at her house when he was accosted by Bell, her ex-boyfriend.
The victim left the scene, but Bell followed.
The victim said Bell, in a black vehicle, then fired shots from a handgun into the victim's car at I-220 and Jefferson-Paige Road.
It is unknown at this time whether Bell - if released - will be eligible to play in Woodlawn's game against Benton High School Friday night.
