The woman who was severely injured early this morning after her car traveled off the top deck of a local parking garage has died. The incident happened just before 3 a.m. at the Boomtown Casino/Hotel parking garage in the 300 block of Riverside Drive.
A late model Chevrolet Caprice driven by Robin Alexander Lyons, 21, of Shreveport crashed through a barrier of steel cables and fell approximately 60 feet onto a concrete entrance/exit ramp of the parking garage. The car landed on its roof pinning Lyons inside. Bossier City Fire Department personnel removed her from the wreckage by using the Jaws of Life and other extricating equipment before taking her to LSU Health Center in Shreveport where she was later pronounced dead.
Police say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and that Lyons was wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation. There were no other injuries reported to police.
