John Quade was sleeping when he was awakened by the sound of what was later learned was an explosion at the former U.S. Army Ammunition Plant now known as Camp Minden in Webster Parish.

"I was laying in bed," he said, "And all of a sudden I hear this womp buladdudu."

Quade never imagined an explosion would produce that kind of sound, saying he first thought  a big limb from an Oak tree had fallen into his house.

It was only later Quade discovered the source of the big bang was at Camp Minden's Explo Plant.

It's going to take a lot of work to get businesses like Dixie Floors back open. Dixie floors was just one of the businesses heavily damaged during the explosion. The entire front display window was shattered when the explosion happened. Workers today began started assessing the dameage.

"The Vault" store owner Miranda Thompson has been running off no sleep since she received the call that her shop had been damaged.

She said the caller "told me the windows were busted out of the shop...I thought he was kidding."

As today wore on, Thompson continued to find damage. "Today when we came in we found some other cracks....on the sides."

At the same time, however, everyone was grateful there were no injuries.
