Lance Snow
ance Snow joined the KTAL sports department in July of 2012.   He is a native of Springfield, MO, but is proud to call the ArkLaTex home.

Lance believes great sportscasts are filled with great local stories; focusing on the athletes, coaches and fans that make the ArkLaTex a hotbed for sports.   He loves the traditional sports like football, basketball, and baseball, but isn't afraid to tangle with the outdoor world or showcase non-traditional athletes.

Lance got his foot in the door at KQTV in St. Joseph, MO, as a reporter, but became the station's Sports Director in less than a year. He spent nearly three years covering sports in Northwest Missouri before heading south to Lousiana.

Lance graduated with a degree in electronic media and a minor in journalism from Evangel University. In his off time, he's probably fishing or hunting. If he's not fishing or hunting, he's probably watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

LifeShare Blood

The Need for Blood

Each month over 14,000 caring people donate blood with LifeShare Blood Centers to assure an adequate supply for patients in area hospitals. Every day in our area patients need 470 units of blood components

Statistics show that one out of every three people will need a blood transfusion during their lifetime. Last year, numerous patients were helped with more than 178,000 units of blood and blood components from donors for patient's transfusion needs from over 165,000 donors

Facts About Blood

  • The average adult has 10 to 12 pints of blood in their body;
  • Your one donation can save up to 3 lives!
  • No valid substitute for blood so when you need it the only place to get it is from other human beings;
  • Medical research show African Americans have some rare blood traits found in their blood;
  •  Any day, these facts could mean the difference between life and death;
  • Every 3 sec, someone needs a blood transfusion, that's 16 people every minute, 960 every hour; 23,040 every day, or 8,409,600 every year;
  • You cannot get AIDS or any other disease by giving blood;
  • You can give whole blood every 56 days, single platelets every 48 hours, or a single plasma donation every 28 days

Biggest Loser Calculators

Before you can determine what diet and exercise work best for you, it's best to make a couple of quick calculations. Your Body Mass Index (BMI) gives you an idea of where you are compared to others in your height/weight range, while your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) tells you how many calories you naturally burn each day.

With these numbers, you can determine how many calories you need to burn each day for safe, healthy weight loss.
