TV anchor, former Quachita Baptist quarterback dies in single car accident

Little Rock news anchor Matt Turner died Saturday evening in a single-car accident along I-30 near Bryant. An Arkadelphia native, Turner attended Ouachita Baptist University where he played quarterback and met his wife, Julee Turner.

In addition to his wife Julee, Turner leaves their 10-month-old daughter Preslee, along with his mother and brother.

  After graduating from Ouachita Baptist, Turner began working for NBC 6 News parent company Nexstar Broadcasting in 2003. For eight years, he was a fixture of the KNWA news team in Northwest Arkansas.

Viewers will likely remember his time in the Razorback Nation and numerous special reports that garnered statewide attention. In July, Matt took a position with KTHV in Little Rock and be closer to family in Arkadelphia.

Turner's funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Third Street Baptist Church in Archadelphia, where Matt's late father had served as pastor for many years.. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Tuesday at the church. Both are open to the public.
Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
