The ArkLaTex watches presidential debate.

The first in a series of Presidential debates between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was held Wednesday evening, and was closely watched by Democrats and Republicans. Locally, the people of the ArkLaTex shared what they want to hear from the candidates.

Jobs and the economy are by far the most important subjects people want addressed by the candidates. Brenda Bullock of Shreveport is looking for work, and wants to know how the President can help her.

"What can you do to help me to get a good job that matches my background? And a good stable job?"

Other voters who spoke with NBC 6 cite Healthcare and Social Security as vitally important issues. Wednesday's debate focused on domestic issues like the economy and healthcare.

While local voters shared many of the same concerns, they also all agreed on one thing: The debate is an excellent way to see exactly where a candidate stands, if they are honest about what they truly believe.
