Accused rapist arrested

A local man accused of rape, is now in police custody following his arrest Sunday afternoon.  Accused rapist, 24-year-old Matthew Buckingham of Shreveport was taken into custody Sunday outside a convenience store on Pines Road near Jefferson Paige Road after authorities spotted him at that location. 

Buckingham was wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred on or around August 6, 2012. 
A warrant charging Buckingham with one count of simple raped had been issued just two days prior to this afternoon's arrest.


Following interviews with Detectives, Buckingham was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the warrant for simple rape with a bond amount of $100,000.00.
