U.S. Sen. Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today announced a $1.2 million grant for the City of Shreveport to support its growing film industry. The grant, provided by the Economic Development Administration (EDA), will construct storm drainage infrastructure to support smooth operation of a film industry studio in Shreveport.

This funding is expected to create 50 jobs and leverage $5 million in private investment.

"Shreveport's film industry is an exciting opportunity for continued economic growth and development in our region. With their Oscar win, Moonbot studios showed the world that the Shreveport film industry is a force to be reckoned with. These funds will provide for important infrastructure improvements that will help this sector to continue to grow and thrive," Landrieu said.

"I am excited to learn that the City of Shreveport is the recipient of a $1.2 million grant through the Economic Development Administration,'' Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover said. "By providing this assistance, EDA is helping open up new possibilities in the film industry that will have a tremendous impact on the City's long-term prosperity. The vital infrastructure improvements that will result from this grant will culminate into a revitalized area of economic opportunity and will be a catalyst for redevelopment in downtown and the Ledbetter Heights community.''
