With a proposal on the table to privatize LSU Health Hospital in Shreveport, one local state leader is coming out against the it.
District 3 State Representative Barbara Norton made her opinion of the plan known during a news conference Friday morning. Joined by retired and current employees of the hospital, other local leaders, and the public, Norton stated why she is against it, and her solutions to fight it.
"To save LSU and to save jobs of people and to make sure that people not only here in North Louisiana, but throughout the state, and surrounding areas, are able to get the best care that they can," said Norton.
She sent a letter to the Louisiana State Attorney General asking whether a decision to privatize the hospital can be made without legislature consent.
Norton has also started a petition for other state lawmakers to sign that says they would sacrifice pay to attend a special session in Baton Rouge to vote on the plan.
