Texarkana Arkansas schools hit the ground running

In addition to traditional study, students in the Texarkana, Arkansas School District have spent their first month of school doing a number of activities:

College Hill Elementary - Students of College Hill Elementary learned the ancient methods of felt making. These felting techniques date back thousands of years yet remain in use currently by nomads of Mongolia.

Each piece of felt was handmade by the students. Students chose different symbols of Arkansas to research for their felt square then created a design to represent the symbol. Students also learned embroidery techniques that they used for outlining the designs, adding details, and labeling the symbol.

The artwork will be on display in rotation at Texarkana Arkansas City Hall, Capital One-Downtown, Chamber of Commerce, Commercial Bank Downtown, TRAHC, the TASD Administration building, CHE and Bancorp South -Stateline.

This educational opportunity was a great success due to our partnership with the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, Inc and funding support by the Arkansas Arts Council.

Trice - Celebrate Freedom Week - In recognition of Freedom Week Trice fourth grade students performed "God Bless the USA" for classmates, teachers and parents.
