Shreveport detectives are working at this hour to identify and apprehend a suspect who robbed and shot the owner of a west Shreveport convenience store Monday evening.
At approximately 6:11 p.m. on September 17, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the Expressway Grocery Store in the 2300 block of Alabama Avenue relative to a reported robbery.
Upon arrival, patrolmen contacted the store owner there who advised them a male suspect entered the business wearing a mask, armed with a firearm demanding money.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fired shots at the store's owner, striking him at least once in the upper body.
Evidence recovered on the scene suggests that the store owner, identified as 48-year-old Syeb Jaffri of Bossier City, may have returned fire at the suspect. Jaffri was transported to LSU Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition.
The masked suspect was described as a black male wearing a purple jogging suit with white tennis shoes, standing approximately six feet tall with a medium build.
The suspect fled the scene of the robbery in an unknown direction. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
