Updated: August 20, 2012
Bossier City police have released the name of the child hit by a car in Bossier City Sunday - she was 2-year-old Carlaya Ariah Jeter
The crash happened just after 7pm Sunday (August 19)  in the 1500 block of Carver Street. Investigators say it appears the child was hit after she walked in front of a Ford Crown Victoria as the car was pulling away from the curb and driving off.
Bossier City Fire Department personnel transported the girl to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash and it appears the crash was unavoidable.
No citations were issue to the driver.
